View notifications in Notification Center
Notification Center isn't as hidden as the old Dashboard was, but still it takes a conscious effort to call it up. Or at least it does at first. Once you've trained yourself to use one of the two. One such feature is Notification Center, the subject of today’s lesson. Notification Center, whether found on an iOS device or a Mac running Mac OS X Mountain Lion, is a place where alert.
To open Notification Center, click in the upper-right corner of your screen, or swipe left with two fingers from the right edge of your trackpad.
- To view notifications that you missed, such as calendar alerts or FaceTime calls, click Notifications at the top of Notification Center.
- To open a notification in the app that sent it, click the notification. The notification is then removed from Notification Center.
- To remove notifications without opening them, click the the clear button next to a notification or group of notifications.
- To reveal controls for Do Not Disturb and Night Shift, scroll up (or swipe down) in Notification Center.
- To open Notifications preferences, click the gear button in the lower-right corner of Notification Center.

Use Do Not Disturb
Do Not Disturb silences incoming calls and notifications. It automatically turns on when your Mac is connected to a TV or projector.
To choose when Do Not Disturb turns on and off, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Notifications. Do Not Disturb settings are at the top of the sidebar:

By default, there isn’t any shortcut set for launching Notification Center. In order to set it, navigate as System Preferences > Keyboard and click on Keyboard Shortcuts. Now click on the Mission Control on the list presented on left hand side. Then put a check across Show Notification Center and enter the combination of keys to set it as a shortcut to access Notification Center. Hence, this is the best way to do it because you can make Notification Center slide out the way you want.
Hot Corners
Hot Corners is an interesting feature which set shortcuts on Mac. Whenever your mouse pointer touches a corner, it would launch a program as per your settings. So, you can use this feature to pull out a shortcut for Notification Center.

I love Gestures and this is one the biggest reasons why I love using Mac. Make sure you have enabled it on your Mac and to do that, navigate as System Preferences > Trackpad and ensure that you have put a check across the Notification Center option. Its simple, use your two fingers and swipe from right corner of the trackpad towards the center. That is it!
