If your Mac goes to sleep unexpectedly. Make sure that Energy Saver is set up the way you want. Your Mac tracks the “energy impact” of each running application in a few places. Like on an iPhone or iPad, you can see exactly which apps are using the most power, and adjust your usage accordingly so you don’t run out of juice. Applications aren’t the only thing draining battery power, of course. Expanding on Max Ried's answer above, I've been using this free app to enable hibernation on my macs for at least the last 5 years: Hibernate by Patrick Stein. I set it to 'hibernate only' mode, and every time I put my mac to 'Sleep,' it instead skips straight to SafeSleep.

Hibernation On Windows 10
I've started having a weird problem with my computer. If I start it from turned off, I can sign in and everything works fine in that I can open applications and usb devices are recognised. However, if I try to do the same thing if the machine is started from hibernation (ie resuming operation), applications refuse to open and quite often usb devices are not recognised. This is not all. If I try to shut down or restart, it won't recognise this command either, so I am forced to just hit the power button. From what I know, it kinda sounds like a registry problem but I'm not sure how to fix it.
